SAM BALCOMB
DIRECTOR, WRITER, PRODUCER

Sam Balcomb is a writer, director and producer working in film, commercials, video games and music videos. He co-founded Rainfall in 2008, where he also serves as lead visual effects supervisor.

After graduating from Art Center College of Design's acclaimed film program in 2002, Sam immediately began work on production and graphic design for numerous broadcast jobs. He took to learning industry-standard software for modeling, animation and compositing - tools which became handy when he was hired as visual effects supervisor for Burbank-based L2 Digital. There, he worked on jobs for Nelly, Switchfoot, Amerie, Stevie Wonder, Disney, Joe Satriani, and Celine Dion.

At Rainfall, Sam has worked for a wide variety of clients, including Sony, Coca-Cola, Warner Music, and ABC Studios. He recently directed a national network spot for IGN Entertainment, a promo for the penultimate episode of Lost, and numerous television specials for the G4 network. As a visual effects producer, he spearheaded many of the top music videos from the past two years including Willow Smith's Whip My Hair, Katy Perry's Starstrukk and Britney Spears' Till the World Ends.

Sam has won many awards for his work, such as two Telly Awards for his short The Damage Done, Best Music Video for Missy Higgins' Steer, and best short film for Texas Fortune. His Legend of Zelda trailer for IGN became their most-viewed video of the year, and has since received over 20 million hits.

He is currently shooting a series of live action campaigns for a new video game franchise, the first of which will premiere at the New York Comic-Con.
