COMPANY PROFILE
Rainfall is a Los Angeles production/post company focused on innovative concepts with a fresh approach. The combined experience of the in-house team covers award-winning feature films, commercials, music videos, short films, and new media content.
Rainfall is now in its fifth year of operation, having evolved significantly since its founding. This year promises to be its biggest yet; in addition to an ever-growing clientele, the base of operations will be expanding to include more artists, more workstations, and a pipeline that can accommodate a much larger workload. Within the past year, Rainfall has provided production and visual effects work for
Adam Lambert,
Pitbull,
Gloria Estefan,
Steven Tyler, and many more. Joe Lynch executive produced the horror short
The Hunt, which became the opening selection for G4's Epictober Film Festival. 32 commercial spots were produced for the popular Moshi Monster
Bobblebots campaign. Sound design was created for EA's new
SSX game. Britney Spears'
video won an MTV VMA. It was an incredible year.
The company launched its official website in April of 2008, in conjunction with the release of
The Legend of Zelda april fool's trailer. Within 24 hours of its release on IGN.com, it was watched over 2.5 million times, became the #1 video on MySpace and YouTube, and was the 4th most Googled term in the world. Variety declared it "the most watched trailer on the Internet." Rainfall.tv itself saw over 100,000 visitors on its launch day, and became the 26th most globally Googled term.
Currently, Rainfall is hard at work on a full production slate. In addition to producing content for film, television, and new media, the company continues to focus on visual effects production, motion graphics, music scoring, and sound design as integral parts of its business core. YEAR 4 IN REVIEW
April 1, 2012
With April 1st at hand, and the company entering its fifth year, it's time to take a look back at the last twelve months. This has been a time of great change, improvement, and restructuring; with even greater accomplishments on the way this year.
As 2011 drew to a close, it became clear that Rainfall Films required a fresh outlook for its continued prosperity and growth. We have always provided a number of services outside of film production, and that number has grown significantly in the last four years. With that in mind, it made sense to re-brand the company as, simply,
Rainfall. By March of 2012 the trademark was in place, and a new home was established:
rainfall.tv.
Even more change is in store in the coming months. A new, centralized location will be utilized that will be a creative hub for our talented team. Several new workstations are being installed, and new software investments guarantee that Rainfall stays on top of the ever-evolving world that is post-production. We are also excited to welcome several new faces to the visual effects and editorial team, insuring that we can tackle larger workloads at increased complexity.
There were many production highlights of the last year, including:
- Rainfall provided VFX, mastering and sound design for Pitbull's
International Love music video.
- Director Ray Kay hired Rainfall to add trippy visuals to Adam Lambert's video,
Better than I Know Myself.
- Joe Lynch and G4 hired Rainfall to concept and shoot a horror short,
The Hunt, for their Epictober Film Festival. The film, a bloody take on Nintendo's
Duck Hunt, was featured on Ain't it Cool News, Fangoria, Shock till you Drop, and many other outlets.
- Visual effects, motion graphics, color and finishing were provided for the Moshi Monster
Bobblebots campaign, which consisted of 32 broadcast spots.
- Visual effects and graphic design were supplied for Gloria Estefan's energetic
Wepa video.
- Our audio sister company Runsilent completed theatrical 7.1 surround sound design for Red Bull and Brain Farm's
The Art of Flight.
- Runsilent also created sound design for EA Games' campaign for their new
SSX snowboarding game.
- Britney Spears'
Till the World Ends music video, which Rainfall provided VFX for, won the MTV VMA for Best Pop Video.
- Collaboration with
Robot Films continues, with two new music videos for Estelle, providing beauty, cleanup, online and color.
- Finally, Rainfall was hired by
Lution Media to provide editorial, VFX, graphics, color and sound design for J. Dash's music video,
Transformer.
Rainfall recently launched its
2012 Showreel, which has been featured by Ventilate, Motionographer, Beautiful Disorder, The Flow, Technophilia and more. Strictly Showreels called it "high quality all around," and Maxon, the creators of Cinema 4D, will be including clips from it in their new demo.
There is still no slowing down. With several new productions already underway, and an exciting slate for the summer, Rainfall's fifth year will be our biggest yet. Thank you for visiting, and we encourage you to visit our new
Facebook page, where you can check out even more updates, photo galleries, and announcements. We look forward to another year of incredible collaborations.
Cheers,
Sam Balcomb, Jeff Dodson, & Jesse Soff
